Local Women Pick Fairway as Location for First HOOPLA Nail Salon

Two local women are hard at work prepping to open a new nail salon at the Fairway Shops this summer.
Megan Thornberry, a Pembroke Hill graduate who lives in Brookside, and Molly Maxwell, a SM East graduate who lives in Mission Hills, plan to open HOOPLA in the space previously occupied by Matney Floral. Matney closed its doors in February after more than 20 years in business.
They plan to open the salon in July.
Thornberry and Maxell say HOOPLA will offer manicures, pedicures, waxing and chair massages. Patrons can make an appointment or just walk in. It will also sell private label mini-nail polishes that the proprietors say are “five free,” meaning they don’t contain the five potentially dangerous chemicals commonly found in many polishes.
“We think it’s a great location in terms of serving the surrounding neighborhoods,” Maxwell said via email. “We’re also excited about the synergy amongst our fellow Fairway merchants.”
